Question about color...

My website, Nerld has a little sky blue background (or it's supposed to be). When I view it on my MacBook it looks kinda pretty, but when I logged on using my PC, the background is a disgusting purple (and I mean disgusting).

Can someone visit it and tell me if the color is sky blue or purple? Why is there the dramatic color difference? My PC is not that old! I believe it has 32-bit color.

I'm sure this has more to do with your monitor and little if anything to do with your operating system or browser. The truth is it's probably more of a purple than a blue, since everyone is seeing that tint, but your mac's monitor has been rendering it according to the way it is adjusted, with more blue tones.

I'm seeing purple like the screenshot. As I said, it's just different monitors. The screenshot doesn't help because it will be blue or purple depending on how your monitor is adjusted, just like the site.

everyone, thank you so much!

Wayfarer07, how do you think I can solve this problem? For example, this quick reply box for me is blue right now, so isn't it blue for everyone? I mean, it's not my monitor that is "screwed up" right 'cause other people are seeing blue with me. Is there a "safe" color that will show up to be kind of sky blue/light blue on all monitors? Surely webmasters don't have to live with this kind of jeopardy in color (light blue vs deep purple)!

The only answer is to fiddle with the colors until you find one that looks good on both. The "Quick Reply" box is more of a pure blue, if anything it has a hint of green in it, not purple. I suspect on some monitors the green will be somewhat more accented.

On my monitor, your color is more of a light purple, not a deep one. There isn't any one solution that I can think of. Yes, it is an unfortunate fact that monitor color is something that cannot be relied upon.

Often, if I need a really good blue color, I'll go to a very popular site like MySpace or Digg and eyedropper the color they use, then just tweak it slightly in Photoshop so it is slightly different but on the same spectrum. These colors tend to be very reliable.

But ask a graphic artist, they'll have a better answer than I will...

I like that suggestion! I'll have to look around. But jeez, I thought one color choosing would be good enough. Thank so much.

It's a blue haze to me. matches the navigational bar. I am on a PC Laptop using Windows XP Professional. Firefox. Maybe it's a question of video card? Strange.
