I have a personal project I'm working on called Fishn Arizona. Its a community website for Arizona fisherman. Its been up for a year and has had very little activity. I have about a dozen members so far. Recently, I did a redesign and added some new features (with a few more to come). Anyway, I would like to improve interest in the site and bring in some new members.

I'm kind of at a loss as to where to go from here... I've never started a member driven website, so I'm not sure how to bring in new members. I am getting about 150 hits a month from google and yahoo, but they don't seem to be coming from fisherman... the primary search term is "fish species". So I know I need to work on SEO. But what else can I do to bring in new members? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Sam

Thanks for the suggestions. However, I already have a native fish species page, a list of catches with pics that tie into fishing reports, as well as a list of fishing spots, fishing news and several other features.

I do appreciate your suggestions, but I need more suggestions along the lines of advertising and bringing in new members. Of course I am open to new feature suggestions, so don't hesitate to share em.

Thanks,

Sam

So I know I need to work on SEO
Nope!

What you need to work on is the PROMOTION of the site.

Is there really fishing in Arizona? I thought that whole place is a desert! Okay, I guess there's the Colorado river... Seriously, where do you fish in AZ?

I think they have a few large good lakes.

For the OP, promoting it here is not going to win you any visitors. Try a Google search forums +fishing and spend some time in those making quality posts.
