Hello,
I'm new here and new to design. I'm trying to get my head around transferring photoshop deigns to dreamweaver.

I've sliced up my design and inserted the 'slices' to the tables.

It doesn't always line up in the design window in DW.
However, my issue is that in Firefox, it comes up fine, where as in IE or Safari, there are slices missing.

Can anyone help? You can check it out at www.janetmiles.co.uk

Is there any easier way to tranfer PS designs to DW?

thanks so much... its good to be among experts!

Dreamweaver has a horrible design view, it doesn't properly read CSS and even HTML, and so you get what people call a 'fractured' view.

What I'd suggest is to not become dependent on DW's design view.

you need to layout out your site in DW, using divs and css and then place your images exported from Photoshop: the days of exporting layouts from ps are over.

have a look at something like this for some pointers on how you should be making your page
http://www.opera.com/company/education/curriculum/

incidentally your menu text is far too feint to read easily

if i get time i'll try and knock something up after the weekend

As others suggested, you should not be relying on the Adobe products to create your code for you. You should be coding yourself to ensure it's being done properly. Tables are not appropriate for creating a layout and its use won't help with cross browser compatibility.

dont use tables, instead use divs. if you need more help just look up some tutorials on psd to html/css

ur site looks messed up in some browsers is something ur gonna have to deal with when u web design. make sure you have an appropriate doctype for your html document, that helps out a lot and make sure you validate them to make sure you have the correct markup for both html and css.

dreamweaver doesn't have a horrible design view, most of the time is is accurate but even when it's not, you can always choose 'live view' and it will show the site how it will be shown in a browser.

Thanks for your feedback and help everyone.

I've realised I've got a long way to go - a lot more studying. I@m going to have a look at youtube and see if I can get to grips with this.

Is there anywhere else that would be good to look at to learn more?

Thanks
