Hello I am a new webmaster. Just bought my domain and hosting and I am trying to set up my site. I uploaded all my stuff to my server and I discovered that over half of my images do not load. I know what the problem is already but don't know how to correct it without switching all the images to gifs. I was wondering if someone could tell me how to convert JPG images to jpg images. That's all that needs to be done is switch from uppercase to lower. Thank you very much for your help.

golfiscool,

If you are on a web server that is sensitive to case, then you need only rename your files using lowercase letters. You can probably do this directly from within your FTP program -- or at the worst rename them on your machine and re-upload them.

But there is no structural difference between a JPG and a jpg -- it's just the filename. Try doing so.

If it smells like a jpg, looks like a jpg and feels like a jpg, it's probably a jpg. I don't know why this occured to me......

That's correct! If you already knew this and just want someone else to do it for you, perhaps you should consider doing it yourself? It won't take too long if you copy/paste the extension for every one. Your problems should be solved. That, our you can go through all your code and link to the JPG instead of jpg.

Thank you guys I figured out how to do it...I had to be on my FTP and right click each file and then select properties and rename JPG to jpg. It took quite a long time haha.

You could have just selected the file each at a time and pressed F2.. to rename..

In Windows,
Code:
ren *.JPG *.jpg
or on Linux
Code:
rename *.JPG *.jpg
Would have done the trick. The you could simply re-upload the files. Or better yet, SSH to your server and run the command there. What I would've done

I am a pretty stupid guy, I never think about shortcuts, always have to do everything the hard way. I will remember F2 for now on though that sounds alot easier. You guys are too smart.

Not sure if anyone said this but if it worked on your local machine then all of the images went from .jpg to .JPG at upload then it is your FTP client. look in your FTP seeting for anything related to changing extentions to uppercase. after you change that setting just re-upload your files. that is the way i would do it.
