It's not as easy as it was get people reading your blog, apparently there's a blog created evry half a second, that's 175000 new blogs per day! Best advice is, choose a unique niche (I know it's almost a cliche' to say that) because otherwise it'll already have been said somewhere else. And 'always' use a self-hosted WP blog, too many good reasons to list BUT it's much better for SEO.

find a blog provider you like i would suggest Blogger or TaypePad, they will guide you trough the setup, find a subject to write about and you are ready to go. you can make money from ads, affiliate programs, selling products ect.

Find a blogging site, think of something good and original to write, and put some good ads in sight.
