I am having untold trouble getting a layer that is over the top of several tables to show correct when i preview my page, i am using the "insert layer" command rather than "draw layer". This supposed to get around this problem......a bit of help would great, going nuts

Which browser are you using? Some browsers do not work well with layers. Just make sure that they are not on top of each other in dreamweaver and that they are well positioned so that there will be no conflict

I am using a current IE browser, i did a lot of reading on positioning frames, the general vonsesus is to stay away from them as they are very unpredicable. Unless your a code guru us mere mortals shouldn't touch them

I suspect you either have, centered your talbes or else used % width for your talbes, while at the same time using px dimentions for the layer position (or vice vesa). In general, it's not a good idea to mix layers and talbes. Either use layers or use talbes. To find out how to lay your site out with layers, read up about CSS layouts.
