If you are using firefox, their is an add on i heard about called yslow, it will help you make your site faster.

Site loading speed is largely based on 2 factors: The server's performance and the website's graphical elements.

Optimize those and it should be fine.

Is your site has flash which makes the site load slow. You can use some tools to lose weight of your site.

Check the images you added make sure use jpg.

yes, use images and other stuff that does not weight a lot. - less Kb means less loading time. relook all formats of images you're using, also choose hosting that has a good uptime and bandwich. (this is not a problem if you're using well known hosting)

if you don't want to cut flash and graphics you can buy a more expensive hosting plan as well

Best thing to do is to compress the images...I personally use .PNG for small graphics.
Just search on Google for : image compress or online image compress...there are tons of tools

must have a good server able to pump out pages too

Also, try not to use scripts that require serverside loaders like ioncube or phpshield if you can help it and use gzip compression if available.
