I'm debating whether to use Joomla or Wordpress to build my site. Does anyone have any experience over the pros and cons of each?
I dont know any programming, and am non-technical so I guess I'm looking for something user friendly but also Search engine friendly too.

I heard about one idea to incorporate a Wordpress blog into a Joomla site. Anyone had experience of this?

Thanks, well its not a completely new website, just the website in my signature which I want to 'revamp' as the website building tool I use at the moment (site studio) is really lacking. I would just want to add a blog, embed videos, visitor poll, and allow users to add comments. So nothing too fancy.

It all depends on your needs. They're both good choices. Wordpress is more of a blogging platform, while Joomla is a full fledged CMS. They can both be customized and be seo friendly.

If you require CMS features, I'd go with Joomla. It has a longer learning curve than Wordpress, but once you figure it out you can do anything with it.

But from what I learned now that Wordpress is getting better in terms of SEO since it became a very good CMS tool. too.

But you can get the best of both world.You can infact integrate these two from what I heard. Maybe guys you know how.. I haven't tried it though.

WordPress, WordPress, WordPress... It does alomst everything that any website needs, and it's very very SEO friendly.

Well, in case you don't need any special features for your site and don't want to pay something for that, then use Wordpress

wordpress for me, i find it easy to use and it got lots of add-ons.

Melissa you can download free copies of both and play around with them to see which you like better. Either will be able to power your site.

I'm another WordPress person. I think it's pretty easy to learn how to use and pretty easy to learn how to customize. There will be a little learning curve in the beginning, which is to be expected. WordPress 3.0 was released today and with it WordPress is more full CMS than ever. It's been much more than a blogging platform for quite some time. WordPress is generally search friendly out of the box, though there are things you'd need to tweak and you still have to create the content you hope will rank.

In all fairness to Joomla, I've never used it. I can't really tell you it's advantages of disadvantages.

But again you can download both for free and give each a little time to play with. It shouldn't take long before you find yourself liking one better than the other.

I am also in wordpress as there is many good and profession theme ready for me to use

I used Joomla once and it was nothing but an absolute headache. I would stick to Wordpress.

Personally, I suggest WP because it is easier to use and when you need to set up it there are plugin already available. You will just need to activate them.

I would recommend WP. Most of our webmasters are using WP to our clients.

It depends on what you need it for. Wordpress is better for blog type websites and Joomla is better for CMS. The admin in Joomla can be a problem for less computer illiterate users though.I have used Joomla and Worpress. And i found Wordpress is hands down, just amazing.

Though WordPress used to be just for Blogging, just like Joomla now it is a full blown CMS. I like WordPress more than Joomla personally.

Joomla is full fledging for cms, it’s different from normal model of cms and joomla has been developed for everybody because it’s not complicated. its designed to work with other open source, free, software such as PHP/MySQL and Apache it’s easy to install and reliable.
