I want to have one of my own and want to know how to prepare such type of websites.

Had me all excited for a minute there, sadly it isn't free though, I'm sure there used to be some free ones, didn't yahoo at one time do them for free?

I personally use a site calld kapow for my SMS gateway.

You then basically just call a PHP script on their website with the details of the message.

It costs about £10 for 100 TXT messages. ( Gets cheaper the more you buy )



So if your allowing people to send free SMS's you then need a way to make back that cash. A few pence per user somehow. ( Adwords? Forced signups? Banners? )

lynxus you have given me an idea, ok at first I assumed there were some free ones, pretty sure yahoo had sms for free at one time, they sort of messed it up as you could spoof the number so send messages pretending you was somebody else, anyway it seems that there is no free ones nowadays, I noticed on Chris's link you could become a reseller so assume yours does the same sort of thing, so maybe becoming a reseller and giving out free credits to good content providers is the answer, it's not much of an investment but forums are only as good as the content on them.

Can we play guess the IP?

In the States and parts of Canada it is fairly simple to write a free sms sending script.

Many other countries do not have open gateways for you to use.

^Yeah I'm in Thailand so that blows me out

you *could* get a contract phone with lets say linux installed or similar.

Then have it connected to your server via USB.

You can then write a script to talk ot the phone and send SMS messages via the phone via your server.

That way, any messages sent will be billed to your contract and if you have 1000+ or unlimited messages, You may be able to get away with it for some time.

Ive known people to do it like this, But ive never tried.

i think it depends on country you'll have to search on google according to your country so that you could do that its easy.

Where do I start to send text messages from my server to numbers in the USA?

Do I just get people to register and tell me who their provider is....

If they say Verizon then just send an email notification to 5556664343@vtext.com?

Or is there something I can do to use another part of my server...like the txt dns?
