Ah
I've started to design a few sites for sporting clubs etc
I'm using WYSIWYG editor and it just isn't seeming to offer that good of an experience

I want to take my web designing further
But I have no idea where to start with it

I would love to create those professional looking sites
But I'm just not sure where to start on any of it

Can someone please point me in the right direction (:

Cheers
Callum

Download a trial of DreamWeaver, it is the best out there. You should just play around with it and see what you can do. You should also start learning other web languages such as php.

I would start to learn HTML, Dreamweaver and Photoshop at the same time as learning to install and configure wordpress.... You'll need all of these things at the least but that's the simplest way to start....

PS the Missing Manual series of books are good for all of these...

Thanks for the replies guys

I have cs3 master collection, and I already know alot about Photoshop
Well not alot but enough to get me by, without thinking WTF (:

I do have a bit of experience installing things like word press
I have installed and setup oscommerce and fully customized it, that was a good experience
and I also have made several site using WYSIWYG
but I guess I'm looking to become more professional (:

I'm pretty comfortable learning dreamweaver
but how long would it take to become somewhat semi proficient at it
I had a go last night and it didn't seem too bad
was able to change backgrounds and stuff

guess I'm going to be looking at a lot of internet guides

I'll show you my site and you'll probably understand why I want to start grttig more professional (:

Well since you are already good with Photoshop, you will know that designing and slicing the template should be pretty straight forward.

Exporting the template to HTML should be easy too. Coding it in Dreamweaver via CSS should be your focus. There are many tutorials out there just Google it. I personally learned it on my host's forum.

It is a trial and error process so make sure you have time.
