Hi everyone,

Massive dilemma at the moment. I've never come across this issue before and can't identify what the problem is.

I am doing a site for a client http://www.j3design.co.uk . She uses MAC, I use PC. At the moment it displays fine at her end but at my end the logo has a box around it.

Her end
Firefox = OK
Safari = OK
Netscape = Box

My end
All browsers = box

I initially thought it was because the CSS file had been cached from a previous version of the site but once cleared, that isn't the case. Some people visiting the site for the first time see it without the box and some see it with it.

This seriously MUST be something to do with the background-colour setting being cached somewhere... BUT... does anyone know of any variances between MACs/PCs that account for this issue? I've never come across it before.. ever.

Thanks in advance all.

Ed

The background colour of the logo is different to the background colour of the container.

Yes you're right. That is what I see as well. However, my client doesn't see them to be different. I have had various MAC users confirm that, in it's current state (i.e. when I can see the box) they cannot see a difference between the background colour of the logo and the background of the page.

Does that make sense?

It will depend on the colour rendering setup of the video card and monitors. I have two monitors on my machine and it is more pronounced on one (different contrast setting) than the other

but it's simple enough to fix.

cut a 2px square out of the image background and use that as a repeating background for the parent.

Oh my god... I can't believe I didn't think of that. Thank you again

for a text logo against a plainish background you should be using a gif or png-8 with transparency anyway NOT a jpeg

btw - if you increase text size by just one notch (in firefox for example) your text flows out your container and the line breaks are weird - remove all those soft breaks (the <br>s )
