Wordpress & Forum Integration

Hello, it's been a while since I've last posted. I have been running an excel website for the past year, which has been growing nicely....so nice, that my inbox is being flooded with questions on Excel. I'm finding myself answering the same questions over and over again.

I think it's time to integrate a forum.

I have done some research and tried to implement bbPress. This forum was OK, but not very professional.

I'm looking to implement either phpbb or vbulletin (I know it's $195) to my current wordpress theme. I tried to get phpbb to work using wp-united but for some reason I kept getting errors messages.

Has anybody here tried and been successful in implementing either phpbb or vbulletin into an existing wordpress theme? I'm not stuck on these two forum scripts, they just seem to be the most popular.

Any advice or support would be greatly appreciated.

Or, if you want to help, please PM me.

Why not set-up PHPbb in a seperate directory and add a permalink to it from your WP-Blog?

My intension is to incorporate the forum into my existing Wordpress theme. I'm not sure a permalink would do the trick...

If you are using wordpress 3 then the bridge for phpbb wont work just now but the author of the bridge is working on an interim fix for the problems if not have you tried asking for support on the wp-united support forums http://www.wp-united.com/index.php?sid=ffa0ad2f98c4360df9d86e8c9cf1191b
or watch on the site for the new update for wordpress 3 have not used since the upgrade but have used in the past and worked well for me.
