Hey I have 2 questions about creating a gaming website.

1. Many gaming sites I've searched on this forum use wordpress. I've only ever considered wordpress for a blog but is this a better way then making a new website for gaming?

How do gaming sites receive news screen shots and trailers from gaming companies?

Do they have to pay the sites for trailers and stuff or do they just get sent it weekly? If I make a gaming site I will need this kind of stuff but I don't wanted to just copy and paste stuff from other sites because of copyright infringement. Does anyone know what I should/can do?

As far as i am aware and someone can correct me if i am wrong the like of trailers and news about games gets released so that it can be used to promote the game so i cant see any gaming company having a problem with you posting a trailer for there game on your site news. Other things like reviews for games are diffrent as they are written to be displayed on someones site and i reccon most of them would not be happy with you copy and pasting an article they have written. i know on my clan site i post video trailers for new games on my homepage mostly i use youtube video box for them .


edit : one other thing i use is rss feed viewer of main stories on vavles website as its counter strike source clan . I know a lot of bigger games sites have these and with the right code you can make block for most CMS to display last 5 stories on there sites.

so does anyone know if you just like email game companies and see if they have a newsletter?

Sometime you can get information by visiting the developers website and I suggest you sign-up for newletter so you can get updates first hand or you can add a game in Facebook.
