I already posted this on the joomla forum but have not managed to resolve it so thought I'd ask you guys. I think it must be a simple thing and can't understand why it's proving so difficult!

When I type a pound sign or use & #163; (no spaces) or £ in my joomla site, initially the pound sign appears (while using the tinyeditor) but as soon as I click on Apply or Save, it changes into a ? symbol.

I have tried changing the utf-8 coding in my template file rhuk_milkyway/index.php, and I have tried a hack found here http://softmarket.ro/joomla-tips/joo...so-8859-1.html but nothing makes any differenct (except the hack which creates other problems, so I un-hacked it).

Can anyone shed any light? Whereabouts might the problem lie? Thanks
