So you do not consider a drawing of what a client (or anyone else) to be a design then?
I've worked with several excellent designers in the past who's idea of coding is to slice up a PSD and use whatever Photoshop spewed out.
Their designs were absolutely first class and the clients were more than happy with the layouts, it was then my job to turn those designs into fully working sites.
I would NOT go to those people and insult them by telling them that "You can't be a web designer, because you don't know how to write code", anymore than they would insult me by telling me I can't be a web developer because I can't tell the difference between "Coral pink" and "Rose pink".
Certainly if someone wants to do both then they SHOULD learn coding simply to be able to fix things.
In a similar vein, I wouldn't class the FrontPage and DreamWeaver jockeys as developers, which I would suggest these are the people you are terming "designers".
I've been reading alot of your "argumentative" (Forgive my spelling) Posts, And I have to say I love the way you push your point across to then just bold everything which is quite important to your argument Makes the post seem very personal and close to what you believe is the truth.
Sorry its a bit off topic but you know it kinda stands out :P
I have problems with ;
Sometimes i forget to put them, but as i use dreamweaver, i always chek the validation of my document, and with this tool i save time. And i can continue coding my page.
If you find the answer to that question, please let me know.
Insofar as HTML coding goes, there are several IDEs that check for unclosed elements, etc, and some that will auto-close elements and attributes for you. Eclipse and Aptana are two that also handle PHP, SQL, XML, and JavaScript nicely.
Website visitors will often leave out the "www." portion when they type a URL or link to your website. Set the website up so that it automatically redirects any non-www version of your domain urls to the www version of your website.
Properly Sized Graphics
Size and define all graphics and images on your web pages properly and correctly. Web pages will load quicker if the graphics contained on each page are properly defined so they don't require the web browser to re-size them. Properly sized and defined images can reduce the web browser workload and speed up the page loading time.
Something will be broken and I'll bang my head wondering why until I find out it's just a missing quote, then I bang my head some more for being so stupid.
Need to remember to always use spell-checker, and link-checker whenever changes are made to a website.
It's amazing when even little alterations to coding can interfere/alter the linking structure of a website. So always use the link-checker when done :-) (And check Google Webmaster Tools for problems).
I am completely agree with you and this becomes the major drawback and it happens with me once when I created website.
Thanks
