Which one do you prefer: H1 v H2?

Friends; I am recently entered the world of SEO. I am trying to promote my site. While reading through several blogs, I came to know that keywords in H1 are good for ranking. Is this accurate? My site has recently shifted from Net Objects Fusion to Joomla. I tried adding a few words in the H1 tag which is displayed near the logo. However, I am unable to include the content. In fact, it asks me to incorporate in the H2 tag. And, I have no H1 tag on the page. Will this be less effective in terms of SEO?

My website, and no, I'm not plugging it, is on the first page of Google, (under most of my desired search terms) and if memory serves correctly, I don't have a single H1 tag in it.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I am saying that you might be barking up the wrong tree.

Keyword density, among MANY other things, make a heck of a lot more difference than whether or not you have something in an H1 or H2 tag.

the main title of the page should be an H1, and there should be only one h1 per page.

you should only use h1 tags when you want a big header, perhaps you should focus more on content and making a good site with regular visitors rather than seo

no, you should use an h1 for your main page heading - because it's the most important, and therefore bigger. and use css or the standard browser sizes/weights.

not really no it's what it means that's important, by default h1s are bigger to show they're important, but it's essential to remember that for a good document structure then the main page title (i.e. the main subject of the page) is an h1.

unless that's what you meant by bigger, reading it back it's a bit ambiguous so just wanted to make it clear

What if I style my h1 tags with font-size: 10px?

That's what I do most times. Styling my h1-h3 tags. Bot's do not care about font-size.
It's something with semantic html.

if you style your h1s as 10px where do you go from there? h2 as 8px? h3 as 7px??

as well as being semantically more important, h1s should be visually more prominent

You can style a H1 tag (or any other tag) however you want because that's just for presentation. Saying that, 10px or equivilent is very small and barely readable on larger resolutions, or for people with less than perfect eyesight.

I think you misunderstood something. H1 does not mean BIG. It's about importance of the text inside the tag.

Important text does not have to be 24px (just an example).

Increase your website popularity from two aspects: the following
1. How to let users know and access your site
2, how to let users to visit and dependent on your website

You should constantly updated, fresh content, attractive wonderful articles, setting the original keywords, do the special features, and increase market, and constantly promote oneself.

In SEO all header tags have the same priority, instead of H1 or H2 and so on tags priority individually.

Keyword ranking based on quality inbound links and content which is used in your website.

Use H1 tag on your main "keyword" and your other “keyword” as H2 and H3 tags. Lets assume your main keyword is “Personal Injury Lawyer”. Use “Personal Injury Lawyer” in H1, “Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer” in H2 and “Personal Injury Lawyer in Los Angeles” in H3.

For goodness sake

Talk about "SEO by numbers"

Ever thought of using them for their correct purpose rather than stuffing with "key words"
