Hi ejaquez,
CGI Scripts aren't so bad to work with.
Here's some steps to help along the way:
1. Go to http://cgi.resourceindex.com/
2. Choose The Very First Link (Programs and Scripts )
3. Choose Perl ( Those are the easiest to work with IMO )
4. Now decide on what type of cgi script your looking for.
5. I would say access counters then online users. They are widely used CGI scripts
Note that when hit get to step 5, you will see on that webpage, there are different scripts, and if you look closely, you will note on the very first line of the description, (where it says Version 1.0 - Released: {date} - free - unix). You will want to make sure you get the ones that say free, as they are the ones that you can install and take as long as you need to figure out how they work. If you need help installing them, please post back as I have experience installing cgi scripts fairly quickly.
Good luck in your adventures,
-Brian
