Hello,

I need the advice of experts. If you were to hire a web designer to work for your company what qualities would you look for? I would like someone who can present great end products which would be websites and templates, flexible in their thinking, experienced and up to date on current trends etc in the industry, someone that can complete work in a timely fashion and someone that would like to build a very long term relationship with our company.

What other qualities should I look for in a web designer?

Besides everything you mentioned, I would be looking at their resume, interested in seeing what other websites they have designed, possibly contacting these other websites to find out about the website designer in question.

Sometimes the very last thing you would want from a designer is to "keep up with current trends".

Especially the thankfully short-lived "web 2.0 styles". "Kewl" and "trendy doesn't always help sell products.

What you DO need from a designer is the ability to create a design that complements the products and appeals to customers but can also help to drive sales.
