which software is better to Website Designing? i need top ten software?

it totally depends on how you want to work, everyone is different and there are so many options. If you're a great coder, for example, all you need is a text editor and some kind of image editing software.

Personally, I use Illustrator, Photoshop and then Taco HTML Edit to put it all together.

People not so keen on coding might prefer to use Dreamweaver.

I use Adobe Dreamweaver and Photoshop.

Anyways, webs designing doesn't depend on the software used. Even a notepad would be enough, if one is fluent with the code format.

Well once you start using a website designing software and get to master the functions after a while you'll probably stick with it. I started with Dreamweaver and found it pretty easy to use. Good luck !

Photoshop is good but expensive and confusing for images. Gimp is similar and free, a good alternative for the price. Dreamweaver is expensive too. A simple wordpress site has a lot of features most people need without any or very few additional software tools and wordpress is free too. Google chews it up too.

all the great websites were designed in photoshop... don't use easy site builders, or you will get some crap in result.. hire a specialist

As per my web designing experience best graphics designing software is Macro media Dreamweaver.There are so many great features in Dreamweaver that you would not get in ordinary html editors. Dreamweaver does all the coding for you, all you need to do is point and click a few times.For this you do not have to be on the internet to view it, as you can view it without your computer being online.

Great and mostly used software is Adobe Photoshop. If you want to become an expert web designer you've to be fully familiar with it. Any type of pages you can design through it. You'll hardly found professional web designers who don't use it. But at the same time you also need to be expert in HTML, CSS (cascading style sheets) and Dreamweaver. Then you would become a complete web designer.

Through experience I found that the best web design tools are all Adobe products, and I highly recommend everyone interested in web site development to use these tools.

The best at the moment is Microsoft Expression Web. I find that Dream weaver is rather more difficult to master and it has become a teeny bit bloated, I believe it is more expensive than Expression Web.
I teach web design, my students use a free package call First Page 2006. It is so easy to use and allows you to tinker with the HTML code. It copes with modern techniques very well such as XHTM and CSS style sheets. I do not recommend any program that does not allow you tweak the HTML code such as Serif, you are trapped for ever if you use such mouse programs.

Photoshop is the best. We design our sites in Photoshop to get an idea of what the finished site will look like. We then send these layouts to our clients in the form of gif and jpeg images. Once the client approves a particular layout we use Dreamweaver to convert these layouts to HTML.

Photoshop is good for web design. Good coders use text editors like Notepad++ with Firebug for debugging. Coders know how each HTML, CSS, and JavaScript command functions.

Dreamweaver is OK for quick web designs, but DW users hardly know how to code from scratch and how each tag and command is used.

Would you like to eat those words sir? I happen to know many expert coders that use DW, myself included. DW is currently the industry standard for visual deigners - by a long shot. In all of the web companies that I have worked with over the past 10 years, the web designers use DW.

I see a lot of recommendations for PS for gfx editing in the thread. That's fine, right up to the export slice stage. ImageReady is a total klunker for optimising images for the web. For image optimisation, Fireworks has no peer. The Macromedia developers set a new standard in gfx optimisation when they made Fireworks, a standard that Adobe have yet to improve upon since acquiring Macromedia.

Export your gfx as flat files and do your slicing in Fireworks, the amount of bandwidth you'll save on the final design is worth it.
