Hello,
My name is Chuck, and I run the hobby website www.cebswebs.com

I had someone make it for me many years ago, like 2005 or so to run my online golf community www.cebswebs.com/tig_club/ which play a older online golf game.

Anyways, here is my dilema. The webhost is wh4l and the server runs windows (asp) with a couple access databases which are old, but still used.

Our contract is up the middle of december and I want to move the site, but most cheaper hosts now run linux and php/mysql. So here is my question. Can I convert and move my site to a Linux Host?

Since this is a hobby, and I am retired, there is not alot of funds for the host. I have a couple cheap ones now running linux, can it be moved to them?

thanks for any info, it will be truly apprecaited.

Chuck (cebswebs)

Not unless you can rewrite the code entirely in PHP with a different database.

yeah you're in a bit of bother here.

Your best bet is to export your Access databases to some kind of delimited format, tab or comma, then import into MySQL. You'll need to rewrite all of the code for accessing it though, and as Chris suggests, your best bet for that is to use PHP.
