I was installing a matt's formmail cgi on my server according to some really simple directions that I found on-line (powweb.com/tutorials/cgi/formmail.php).

One of the steps was to change the permission on the file to 755 after uploading it to my cgi-bin.

So, I called my host's technical support and the guy was very helpful. He showed me how to access the terminal (like a dos prompt) on my mac and to change the permission that way. Then he suggested that I download fetch ftp to do it in the future.

This is my question:
Does anyone know if it is possible to change permission on a file on the server using Dreamweaver's ftp? And if so, how?

PS. My form is working great!

If you use WS_FTP you can easily change the file permissions.

Use an FTP tool like CuteFTP and select the file. Rightclick and select the permission level.
Read - write - execute.

I tried in DWMX using commands in FTP mode.
It returned 500 error.
