A (Very Small) "For Sale" Database - How?

I have a page displaying no more than 10 items for sale at any one time. There is no need for a checkout or anything similar, merely a list of the items together with a photo.

Once one item is sold, I would like to remove it from the page, and if necessary, add a new item together with its photo.

What is the best way to set this up? The website is for a friend who is unexperienced in any site-management hence the system needs to be as user-friendly as possible.

Are there any freeware PHP products for such a simple feature?

Zen Cart is probably the simplest to set and the "checkout" feature can be disabled by setting "call to buy" option.

Ah yes, I completely overlooked using an ecommerce solution due to it being a bit OTT for my needs. But I guess it will do the job nicely.

Many thanks for the prompt chrishirst!

Perhaps you could search around for a simple catalog system. In fact, I've got a book I'm going through at the moment, and don't laugh everyone, but it's called PHP & MySQL for dummies... it's got a simple catalog system that would fit your needs perfectly.

Failing that, you could go for zencart as Chris suggested.
