I have a webserver that is fully functional except our webmaster wants to be able to edit the site by logging in using Frontpage 2000 make changes and save them. I suggested he use FTP to upload his pages. He will not hear it .
The problem we are having is when we try to open the website in Frontpage 2000 we always get this error: "The folder http://204.xxx.xxx.xx/ isn't avaliable. The folder may be located on an unavaliable volume or protected with a password. For details see C:\Docume~\myprofile\Locals~1\Temp\Wecerr.txt" We haven't changed our DNS server yet. The webserver is running iis 5.0 and has frontpage 2002 extensions. Am I correct in assumming since we get the dialog box asking for a username and password then get the above error message that we are having a permessions or rights issue?
One other note the PC is running windows XP and is in a workgroup named workgroup and is not part of a domain. Also this PC is offsite at another location. The webserver also have frontpage 2002 XP installed locally. I have set at the machine and opened the site with frontpage 2002 and went to tools-server-permissions and used an administrator utility and created a user who has admin rights, but that user still cannot login using frontpage unless you are using the local copy. I also should mention when I login using the local copy of frontpage it only works after several failed attempts. When i try to login the first few times all I get iss the username and password dialog box back minus the password. Almost as if the password is not correct. It is though because i have checked this more times than I can count.
Thank you in advance for any help.
