I recently applied for a photography job at my local newspaper. I recived an "I regret to inform you letter" from the photo editor.

Can I publish this this letter on my website?

It's not an email, it's a postal letter.

I know I can publish emails.

What are the key differences in laws concerning emails versus postal mail documents?

Any comments would be great.

Thanks

Buck.

Depends on the country that you live in. You probably would be ok if you blanked out the company logo and the persons name off the bottom so that it becomes anonymous.

I would think that's fine. Make sure you blur/change/blank our the company information or details.

As far as I understand it that letter is your property and the previous owner gave up all rights to it by mailing to you. Remember, posession is 9/10th of the law.

I can't afford to get sued. But if they sue me it would make alot publicity for me.

I'm am in the United States.

I don't know if I can really just go ahead and scan or reprint the letter. I pretty much just want to use it for content.

I will try to find an actual law.

I think you may be correct about the the letter being my property now but I'm want to be sure.

I think youll be fine.. do what Rince said and black out details

I'm just going to post it on my site with some keyword saturation and google bomb it to #1 for searches for the name of the paper and when people do a search for that paper they will find my site instead.

The letter came off as dismissive and I don't like it when people think for some reason that they more professional than me, or worse just plain better me.

People need to be taught some respect sometimes.
