I'm currently planning Chimpie.com 4.0.
Over the years I've used FrontPage (don't hate), vBulletin w/ vBadvanced and now WordPress.
I could stick with WP and just get a new theme/template going, but I wanted to start a discussion about other possible platforms. There's Drupal, Joomla and Modx. I really don't have any experience with them (only installed and looked at the admincp) but then again, I really don't have much experience with WP either.
I would like the homepage to be something static, pushing the blog to a /blog directory. I really would like something simple, clean cut, but modern looking. Header, navbar, then two columns... the left for the content, the right for updates, icons, maybe YT videos, etc.
What should I think about?
What suggestions do you have?
Any great, premium wordpress themes you would recommend?
Any great add-ons to help speed up the site?
