But, when I view a website I'm working on in Dreamweaver code view it looks noticeably different than when viewed in a browser. The footer, where things are aligned, etc...

Can I have your thoughts and suggestions on this?

That's because the DW rendering engine is pretty crap.

I have not noticed anything of the sort. I mostly use Chrome and IE8/IE9 when coding. What browser gives you this problem?

Dreamweaver's internal preview mode IS crap and you should NOT rely on it. Always preview in different browsers.
