I’ve always heard a great things about MS SQL server for powering large DB’s. As same iI want to know that Which platform should we use? that includes security, scalability, reliability, labor costs, add on licensing fees, availability of add ons so on...

Hi, there's really no answer to your question because what platform you need to use really depends on what you're familiar with and the requirement of the project, such as is it a web development? Does it require windows environment? For example I have been running Ubuntu + MySql for years with very high reliability.

I prefer to use platforms which are easier to implement with all kinds of users, so I would go with MySQL unless if you specifically need to work with a Windows environment.

if you are asking about cms, Drupal is the best. Drupal is safe, secure, and ability to manage large sites, and it uses Mysql to safely store data.

not sure what you mean when you say "platform" but debain is the most stable linux and can entirely work as a server with millions of datbases such sites with a cms like drupal, wordpress and etc.

In my opinion, Oracle> MS SQL> MySQL. If you use a database> 5GB you should use Oracle.

It depends on your requirements and how big the database is. But I think if you are thinking of using CMS like Wordpress, the best option is MySQL.

The using of platform is depend on which kind of functionality and requirement we want or need.......although I strongly prefer MS-Sql Server.............
