We are planning a new start up and are not sure what language we want to build the site in. Maybe PHP, maybe ASP maybe Drupal because of the extent of the off shelf plugins. Our first consideration is cost . What would keep costs the lowest possible ? Second we have tons of functionality we want - this would be done in phases. Limited in the first phase of rollout and features added in subsequent roll-outs.
Some of the features / functionality we seek: are on www.realtor.com but we also want lots of social media integration and a secure shopping cart and international. Realtor.com is just a USA based site we want an international site. I believe they update page results with active script .
Basically we need advanced search capability, registration, back office for buyers and sellers, shopping cart to pay for advertising, email integration to database for pulling desired subscription alerts buyers sign up for. If you click around a little on www.realtor.com you will see what I mean ...
