I currently have a website that was designed for us, but is not a template driven site (i.e. Wordpress, Joomla, etc).

I have just secured hosting for a WP site and installed a nice theme. It is currently hosted under a development domain.

Is it possible to use my current domain from my old website for my new Wordpress site? I want to retain my current PR and SERPs.

What do I do when I am ready to move my new site to a live environment? Is there a plug in that will help?

Yes.

I want to retain my current PR and SERPs.

Use a permanent redirect from old URLs to new URLs. There will be some disruption to results and it takes about three to six months to transfer over and SGB PR will very likely disappear for a while (not that it matters)

Change the DNS servers to point to the new hosting setup. but keep both sites live for five days.
Why are you not simply putting Wordpress on to the existing site and hosting?

Is there a plug in that will help?

Thanks for the input....you always give good advice and direction!

The reason I am not put WP on the existing host/site is becasue they are a bunch of plonkers. I am looking to go a new direction and move away from them.

So.....it can be done but it may take some time for the site to settle down in the SERPs? In the long run, I think that will be ok.....

It does sound like I will need to ask them to help with some of this though doesn't it....

It is possible to migrate a domain using dns. But do you wnat to keep all the content or want to start a new site with the same domain ? Because if you start a new site, pagerank doesn't matter that much anymore.
