In laymen's terms as I am a novice, how can have my rss feed automatically update a page of my site without having to manually update the page? What do I need to do to make this happen. Thanks.

we have no idea what powers the site, what RSS feed code you are using or where it is from or even where the site is to go and find out!

Would you ring up a motor mechanic and say "My car is making a noise, can you tell me how to fix it"?

You can configure the settings of your rss feeder to do that. What are you using? I use feedburner and Google Reader

If you are using Wordpress, there are some plugins that
will automatically populate your page with RSS feeds from OTHER
sites. Is that what you are asking?

It just pulls in a clickable headings though, not the actual body of the other
site's content.
