Hello guys.
My company will launch a solution called "websit builder".
I have concerns about terminology of our solution. Please help me.
After our customers buy our solution, they will be able to change the "Theme" and "Template" of the website.
We'll provide several type of theme, such as "e-commerse", "business", "personal".
Customers can choose a theme and create the website.
Each theme comes with its own web programs.
Customers can change the theme later.
However, we don't support data migration between themes.
After customers change the theme, their previous theme and custom data will be backed up as a custom theme.
In order to reuse their custom data, customers must restore the previous theme.
In order to change the website design, customers can use "Template".
Template is the set of files to change the design. CSS, JS, images, etc.
Theme can have multiple templates.
The question is;
I'm not sure the "Theme" is perfect to describe the feature.
"Theme" sounds like somthing related to style or design, while our theme changes all the files and data of the website.
I researched some solutions.
Wordpress.com uses "theme" to change website design.
Joomla and drupla uses "template". to change website design.
Magento uses "theme" and "template" together but ists "theme" is sam as "template" above.
What do you think?
Is it clear to understand?
I think our customers will be confused with "theme" and "template".
Are there any good tems that I couldn't find or missed?
Please help me.
Although you don't have any suggestion, please comment whether you understand them or not.
Much appreciated in advance.
