I am not famliar with PayPal.com services and I found a very interesting offer in www.talentlinks.net that sounds great; I am a little confused about receiving payments via PayPal... do you think that if I get the code offered by talent links will I effectively receive the payments from my customers?... your help will be appreciated....

I've been using PayPal for over two years and can guarantee you they're for real - they're not going to rip you off or anything. In fact, they've improved a great deal and offer a lot if you want to sell things on your site. It sure beats paying astronomical merchant fees!

I have also used PayPal for a long time with no problems.

You should also consider 2checkout.com as another alternative.

I too have been using PayPal for quite a time. I've never had any problems and have taken aseveral payments through this system. Recently, they have just improved the service by allowing accounts to work with UK pounds and Euros as well as US Dollars, which is very useful for me.

PayPal is great! It is my prefered payment method by far! Really cant say enough good things about paypal. Only 1 thing I have noticed in the last few days, if you use paypal payments to send money make 100% sure that the email address is correct. I just had an incident where I had sent a payment to an individual and I made a mistake on 1 digit, This amount was cashed. According to paypal if you send it to a wrong email box and it is cashed they will not help you. You must contact the person yourself, which basically means you have to hope they are honest. I received a huge relief to find out that the person who I had sent payment to actually had both email boxes! It really is quite simple I guess, kind of like sending cash my mail. If you print the wrong address on the envelope, you have to hope they return to sender!

Hi desplegar,

I have no opinion on Paypal whatsoever, but I just thought that I would give you another perspective on this service. Some people have reported that their transactions have been lost. Others have questioned whether Paypal is really as secure as they present themselves to be. In any case, when you have such a large company storing sensitive information like Paypal, there are bound to be "some flies that get in".

I've been using PayPal for a couple of years now and have not had any problems.

I have heard that some people won't use it because of past problems though.

Does 2checkout.com now have very high fees? PayPal only has 1.9 (or is it 2.9, or something else? I am too lazy to check ) + 30 cents per transaction... and then free withdrawl to us bank accounts... 2checkout seems to be MUCH higher

2checkout charge 5.5% + 49c per transaction, so yes its quite a bit higher. I think 2checkout have a lot more flexibility, though, and I know that some people are wary of companies only accepting PayPal as it's often seen as a 'poor mans credit card processor'

I love using Paypal. I have been using it for several years, and never had a problem. I love that you can withdraw your funds whenever you want, and don't have to wait. 2checkout.com is ok, we use it as backup, but you do have to wait until "payday" to get your money... same with Kagi.

Thats an interesting point about having to wait for your money from 2checkout. I certainly hadn't thought about it that way.

ive used paypal for years and use it almost every other week

be warned though there are a lot of people who have been ripped off by paypal

there are many sites like this on the web http://www.paypalsucks.com/

obviously these are few and far between but its something to think about

I have used Paypal a lot too. Keep in mind a few things. Just make sure that if you want to ONLY receive Paypal to Paypal transfer payments you can use a Personal account and there is NO transaction fee at all.

In case you want CC payments to come tooo, you need a premier or business account. Refer to Paypal for all details and take due care while signing up. To withdaw money you need to add a US Bank. They send / transfer money to US banks FOR FREE.

Until a customer claimed they never received their merchandise. Now, I am forced to repay the customer, even though I suggested they purchase insurance. The transaction was months ago, and I haven't used paypal since then, so I have no way of proving the merchandise was sent. All a customer has to do is log a complaint, and your account is IMMEDIATELY frozen. Their customer service stinks, too. Now that I will be returning to ebay, I will be looking for another means of payment. I wouldn't suggest paypal to anyone.

RoN,

It must have been a RARE BAD experience. I have had some problems with clients and when the file a complaint, we usually issue a refund immediately if we are wrong or contact customer and paypal detailing OUR part and they take things seriously.

Touch wood, but this almost worked perfect all the time in my case.

PayPal, like any online transactions business has it good and bad points. You need to make sure that whatever you are selling, you have built into your price to cost of doing business - which means the additional fees you will pay.

Most people pay fees at their local bank, too. The problem with that is they are usually hidden or called something else. [I once had our bank TRY to charge us a fee for "handling cash"] - so, continue doing your homework and make sure they are a good match - that the clients you are serving are able to use a service like PayPal, etc.

Hope everything goes well for you!
