Is there any way to password protect a single file that is in a public directory?

Would i have to use a script? Or can i do it ith .htpassword fiels etc??

If your using Linix or Windows hosting just place the file in a folder and password the folder in your C panel.

Yes i know what .htpasswd is, but i only know how to use it to proetct a FOLDER, and i wanna know if i can use it to protect a FILE, in a folder that i don't want to protect
