Maybe this question should be in the $ part of this site (move me if needed). Your opinions please on a subscription based forum? Log Homes on the Internet orLhoti.com gets plenty of visitors...over 1,200 yesterday with 700+ uniques. Unfortunately, banners are my only source of income and its not that effective. My thought is to provide an extensive resource library of detail drawings of log home components, plus numerous coupons for log home supplies from my vendors and my design company that would be much, much more than the subscription cost ($25 per year). I want to give subscribers plenty of reason to sign up and give me the $25...you thoughts?

It could work quite well. The real difficulty with that is proving to people that it is worth the signup fee.

Something else you might want to think of is that if you have a resource library you could charge a small fee to access items, then have a subscription. For example, looking at a drawing could cost $1.50. You could then provide small previews so that they know what they are getting. Then, for heavy users, a subscription could be offered which would save them money.

Take a look at Economist.com

They have implemented this system very well.

Selling content subscriptions is one of the hardest things to do,thats why I suggest that you should make an ebook and then package it so it looks good.

You could then sell it as a download product and you could display it on your forum so when people log into your forum they will see the ebook on sale...

I would suggest you download a few ebooks for free just to get a feel for it

If you want I can create a free ebook cover for you and suggest a few sales headlines See Example Headline for my site

I have some free time available

No Cost... that should save you a few $$$$
