I'm new to dreamweaver and have read (most) of the manual. I've created jpegs in photoshop to be used as my navigation buttons. They look fine in dreamweaver but when I preview in a browser they either don't show up at all (in IE 5.1 - I'm on a
mac - there are "x"s wher the jpegs should be) or are grayed out and terrible quality (netscpae 4.76).
The jpegs are small and are black backgrounds with red type. I tried saving these as gifs but photoshop won't let me.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Erik

Thanks.
When I try to save for web with photoshop, it doesn't give me an option to save as a gif. In fact, I'm not sure what happens - it sounds like the computer is saving it but no windows open and nothing seems to happen. The files aren't saved any differently that I can tell.
Using V. 5.5 on a mac.

check your ps help files on how to save as gif but it shuld be as above (i.e. trhough image ready) if not (i can't remember 5.5 now) then convert it to index colour in ps and then save as gif (or was it in the export options?)

Thanks, will try.

Still don't understand why the jpegs that I put in Dreamweaver don't show up in the browser. They are a solid color (black) with red type and the exact inverse to be used as a rollover. Why wouldn't it work as a jpeg?

Don't mean to be patronizing and insult your intelligence, but have you saved all of your images inside the root file of your website so that DW can point to each image when you preview them in the browser? If not then they wont show up. Don't know if this is your problem, but I've done it myself a couple of times and kicked myself afterwards.

Yes all was in the right place. That problem is solved now - making everything a gif fixed it. For some reason, it didn't like the jpegs.

If you have any input on my other posts/questions (why do things look different in IE & netscape" & "Problems with timeline"), that would be much appreiated.

Thanks for the help,
erik

Ummmmmm Im glad that fixed it... you may want to check the file and make sure its rgb before saving as a jpeg. A file saved as cmyk and jpeg will not work on the web. I hope this helped.

Thanks that's good to know.

Anyone have any advice on timelines? It works in DW (when I hold down the play button) but not when I preview or when actually uploaded to my site
