I am working on my first website just now. I have came up against my 1st problem already.
The name of the site at the top is in a font that is not standard to windows, so obviously what happens when it is loaded on a different PC it defaults to a normal font.
How do I get round this (easily)?
Another prob I have is the feedback form doesn't work. I think this is because my host doesnt support it, not too worried about this just now as its a free host because of being my ISP.
Appreciate any advice you could provide.

The url is:

My 1st Site

Thanks in advance

You can get around the font problem by making your header into a graphic (gif, jpg). It wont matter what font you use then.

The feedback form is probably to do with your host being free. Free hosts generally don't offer such luxuries.

No, its down to my provider though, because its my ISP and its the free webspace.
After I get the site running how I want I'll look into another provider

OK, I have made a graphic file, but when I insert it onto the page, it has a white background.
Did it on PSP

How can I insert it with a transparic background?

You will need to set the background of the graphic to match your site. Might be a little difficult to line up with your site background though. One suggestion would be to lose the binary design across the whole of your site and simply have it in your header graphic. Have the rest of the page as just one colour. Might make the page look a little clearer that way too. Personally I am not too crazy on whole page backgrounds.

Thanks for the info, I had expected it to be fairly easy to do what I wanted. Will probably leave as this is really just a site that I am doing to learn as much as possible. It was done with a template so I'd also have to track down where the code is to remove the background. I am not even sure myself that I like the 'background' or just one colour.
Any other advice you have I would appreciate. Constructive criticism is fine too

You can save your GIF File with a transparent background. I'm not entirely sure how this is done in PSP cos I don't use it. Try the help file?
The other file that supports transparency is PNG. The problem with them is that IE doesn't handle them properly - however there is a woraround you can use for having fully transparent PNGs across all (most) browsers. It's a CSS Filter called AlphaImageLoader. I use them extensivly on my site.

Thanks for the advice. I cant save the gif with transparent background as it says it can only save one layer, I tried it to no avail.
Tried to visit your site to see if I could work out how you did it but seems to be down just now.

Thanks again anyway.
