After hours of unsuccessfully trying to upload pages to my site, I broke down and asked Dave, our kind moderator, for some help. My problem was that after uploading the local folder where my pages were in my HD, I would go to my site and instead of the pages, I would see a directory, with a Parent Folder, and below, the corresponding (local folder); the thing looked like a...folder, a directory, not a site with visible content (sorry I can't explain better...)

From this, I learned that the Parent Folder is where the files go to and that's why I could not delete it. Also, I was uploading the whole local folder (called web-public), instead of the files and folders inside the web-public folder - the contents of my site - what really mattered.
Anyway, I know it was a very basic (and goofy) mistake, but Dave said it would be good to post here, so...the thread goes below: [ Thanks again, Dave]

I'm trying to upload my pages using SmartFTP - my site is looking weird, like a folder and it's because of a file that I can't seem to be able to delete - it was already there when I first began uploading, called "Parent Folder" (??)

This was the helpful reply from Dave:

"It seems that you created a web-public folder. You do not need to create this folder and upload your pages. You can delete the web-public folder and upload your pages straight to the parent folder. Make sure you have your index page labeled as such when you upload and that should take care of your problem.

Dave"

I'm glad you posted that hint. I've seen that at several sites, but never paid much attention.

It might be rare, but I've never had that happen. So when you asked, I was baffled and I asked Drache, whom I was conveniently pestering at the moment.

I'm glad you got the needed help and hope you continue to find help at WT.

Dave
