I'm getting back into Web design after a few years doing interactive CDs & similar stuff. As you all know, things have moved along in that time so now I need to be able to tell if my designs work in as many browsers as possible.

So this is my query: Which would be the best browsers to load onto my PC for error-checking? Links would be appreciated.

I only have permanent access to 1 computer (no Mac either) so I assume I won't be able to have multiple versions of the same browser installed. Am I right?

Cheers
Dorian

I have the following browsers installed on one computer; Internet Explorer, Netscape 4.8, Netscape 6.2, Netscape 7.2, Opera and Firefox - - I think that about covers it for everything except the Mac....

You can get downlevel versions of Netscape at: http://sillydog.org/narchive/

Hi, if you mean internet browsers:

I tend to use firefox however whenever i build a page/site i test it in i.e. netscape, myi.e.2. and opera. Yes you can install multiple web browsers but quite obviously you can only have one by default. I hope this answers your question. Also quite clearly you should test you websites on different res monitors e.t.c. i have friends who have higher res monitors than me mine.

sorry if this is not an answer to the question your asking and i have got it all wrong again!

I think once you have the bigger players, IE, Opera, & Firefox you may want to download the accessibility toolbar. This toolbar does everything from resizing resolution to giving doc info to various simulations and tools. I use this toolbar for testing and evaluating sites.

This will come in usefull if you're finding it hard to find browsers:
http://browsers.evolt.org/

If you want to test in multiple versions, you can get VMWare (I think Microsoft also do VirtualPC software too) and load older versions of the OS/Browsers onto it...
