I'm trying to use tables in dreamweaver to organise my site. Basically, whenever I try to rearrange anything the tables just go crazy, and it's never what you see on the screen either. How can anyone design like this? The design and layout views don't seem to complement each other. Formatting is near impossible. Any ideas to put me out of my misery. All I'm trying to do it create a site with links at the bottom, logo and 3 pictures at the top, and all the content in the middle.

<table width="100%">
<tr><td valign="top"> <img src="logo" width="xxx" height="xx" alt=" " border="0"></td> <td> pic 1</td><td>pic2</td><td>pic3</td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="4">Content</td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="4">footer</td></tr>
</table>
the simplest of all layout codes..

if you are not comfortable with dreamweaver or a novice in it, then dont go for the layout designer to create the layout..

start with basics.

go to insert, tables, create table and then select the number of cols and rows and then slowly take it from there..

if u need any further assistance let know.

also it would be helpful, if u can divulge what is exactly wrong.. sometimes you would ave missed a closing tag or not done colspan properly..

Thanks for your input, it was the colspan that was wrong.
