I'm trying to add a FAVICON to my site. I've tried using the code(s)
suggested in different tutorials but have had no luck. What am I doing wrong? [I don't really understand SSI, I'm only using HTML
to put stuff on my site uploading with WS_FTP Pro]. Oldan

Do you have a URL we can look at?

Sometimes also IE caches your site in a way that stops the favicon from showing. Try clearing your temporary internet files, then adding it to your favourites. At some point the icon should show if it's working....

Thanks David. it's working. Guess I just needed to clear the temp files and reload. (I'm not very experienced at programming ). Can I get the favicon to appear in the bar at the bottom where scrolls and such appear? Thanks again, Oldan

David or Chief,

I have placed code on two different sites to produce FAVICONS,
one works and the other one doesn't, any suggestions? Here are the sites:
http://members.cox.net/gcbma/ - works!
http://members.cox.net/ogl/ - not working!

Any help guys will be greatly appreciated. Oldan

Seems to work on both of them for me.

Another quick tip for use with favicon.

If its not working. Click the icon next to the URL in the address bar and drag it over slightly. When the mouse is released this seems to reload the icon.

The ones that weren't working still are not working (I find this funny since some do and some don't and they are all on the same server). I have four different web pages I use and two
have FAVICONS that show up here and two don't and the coding is the same (except for the page address) for all of them.
These work:
http://members.cox.net/gcbma/
http://members.cox.net/canoewoman/

these still show up with the little white page/E symbol:
http://members.cox.net/ogl/
http://members.cox.net/gcbma1/

Think it is my computer somehow??? Oldan

hmm..... gcbma1 is showing the icon for me (after doing the 'drag icon' trick a couple of times). Still nothing on the calendar page though.

Strange. I agree that nothing looks wrong with that code, so perhaps its just a little tempremental. Keep trying and perhaps it will suddenly appear!

Things still remain the same, some sites work and the FAVICON shows up , the others don't even with the little "drag" trick. Now I'm trying to learn how to set up a CGI script to handle FORM processing with email. At 55 I guess I should have known that I'd have to learn a whole new language to understand this stuff Just when I think I know what someone is saying in a tutorial, WHAM!!! they switch gears on me and it is like trying to read hyroglyphics or sandscrit. I wish I could get explainations in
"plain english" for a Dummy, something like "copy this, paste it into your HTML document in the <head> area" . Oh well, know of any place for me to find "Dummy instruction" that isn't in programmer lingo, something I might understand? Oldan
