i'm using pages based on templates in DW, and although i'm able to edit the editable content in the design view, i am unable to edit anything in the code view.

is there a preference that i need to turn off in order for me to edit the code directly? when i asked a colleague about the problem, she said she had no trouble editing template-based pages right in the code view.

any thoughts or ideas?

thanks

There's a couple of options you can use.

The first is to detatch the document from the template. This will make it into just a regular document, and you will be able to edit the lot. However, when you make a change to the master template that that page was based on, that page will not update.

The second option is to make the change on the template, then update the template pages. All pages based on that template will then reflect the change.

the issue is that when i edit in design view, DW makes it impossible for me to edit any of the tags it throws in. so if i want to tweak some formatting, even in editable regions, i can't do it manually...i can only do it according to the tools it allows me to use.

also, editing the master template won't work, because i'm trying to make individual changes to individual pages.

thanks for the reply

that's what i'm leaning towards doing...it just seems like such a pain in the a** to do it that way. kind of like, "i have a porsche, but there's no steering wheel, so i'll just walk everywhere."
