A bunch of students from the webdesign club are getting together to redo our school website.(cuz its crap) we are going to use the Mambo content mangement system to create the plat form... I need some suggestions on layouts... and if you guys know any good educational institution website that you guys think are *outstanding*

here is our current school website: ASIJ

I would love if i could get feed back on the CURRENT site and what is BAD about it and what is GOOD about it. We will tkae that and use it to improve our site.

OK Regarding your current site:

Dont use those graphics for the links it looks really ugly. I suggest you just use ordinary text.

An image was used to to display the contact info in the footer. Bad idea. What if a visitor cant view graphics? Also they might just want to copy&paste it so they dont have to typ it out again, impossible with a graphic...

When I was browsing through the site I noticed a change in layout and design. This should really be kept consistant.

Hope that helps some..

Thanks! ne thing else?

As you can see this site is soo bad. Other international schoolers in Japan have said it was good.. but.. thats only cause theirs is worse...Hopefully the person who designed the current school website isn7t reading this thread.... I'd be killed...But I think our school site can be put in the "top 10 suckiest school website" ranking

Obvously our school is cheap and wont spend 7million yen like Taipei American School... and we have to make everything our selves.... I'm getting a lot of *component* and *addon* help from Mambo people... but i assume you guys know more about design

edit: Also... dark background? or light background? Our school colors are: black gold and white.

Out of those 4 I would say that qis.org is the best apart from a couple of aesthetic issues. Its's the fastest loading and the easiest to use..
