My company has ventured into the world of the virtual dedicated server at GoDaddy.com
The site uses Plesk 7reloaded and is easy enough to set things up BUT when trying to connect from DreamWeaver MX 2004 I get permission problems and cannot connect.

I checked with the Tech support but they can't give any help (30 min call). Due to the ease of use, we let Dreamweaver do the php code for inserts, updates, etc and need to be able to establish the connect file. The IP address should work for the host name but does not.

Has anyone had this issue before? I searched your site and this situation has not been discussed previously. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Andy

I am not using FrontPage so there is no point in enabling it. The Techs kept me on the phone long distance (no 800#) for 30 minutes and the best they could do is to say that they don't support database connections and that using my IP address should work.

Reading elsewhere on the net I see that this is a common issue.

For anyone reading that has a GoDaddy Virtual Dedicated Server the host name is

'localhost' no matter what their FAQ's say!

Are you sure that the file name is correct (it will be case sensitive). Recheck the password and username. Recheck the path to the file i.e. IP/aFolder/connect.txt

Sorry that is all I can think of.
