What is your opinion of them and the awards? Just curious.

Okay that is pretty much what I thought. It was given to a site I designed the graphics for.

They and others like them give out awards like candy
to generate links back to their own sites.

It is a great way (for the award giver) to get more
exposure and link popularity.

They even give it to newbie sites. I've seen it on at least 10 sites in last month lol..

I think is better to get an award from FlashKit.

I like to think with my 5 years experience in the Hard Knocks Webdesign School I know a good design when I see it.

I have seen this award though on some absolutely hideous looking websites.

Granted, they do seem to hit a few that are truly nice looking but many are just very good examples of very bad design.

Maybe someone should make a bad design award. I wonder how many sites would really take it?

Of course you would have to be honest in choosing the sites rather than just randomly doling it out.
