Hi all,

I have been actively using Front page to build static html pages which has been going ok. I get frustrated with frontpage sometimes changing the code when i dont want it to for some reason but overall i find the product ok and i like the option to see the webpage as it is and edit the page as seen.

Im now thinking about progressing to Dreamweaver as i have heard its a much better product but worried i might be getting out of my depth as i have limited code experience.

Anyone any views on this, how easy is dreamweaver to use? and what are the main advantages to you using dreamweaver?

Thanks in advance

What FrontPage does in 10 lines, Dreamweaver does in 1.

Very Very Very easy to use!! I made the switch from FP 2003 to Dreamweaver MX 2004 (7.0) during the summer and uninstalled FP within 3 days after switching and gave the disc to my friend! lol I love DW's Coder or Designer Lay-Out and I had to learn how to use it all by myself b/c my web design I class used nothing but FP during it! :-/ yea...

The main advantages are...EVERYTHING!!

some advice...Learn HTML, CSS, and Javascript!!

You'll then look back at your old FP designs and Laugh Your *ss Off and be like wth did I do here?!? It happened to me!

Dreamweaver 8.0 is cooler and better than the previous ones!

Good Luck with DW man! After I installed DW, I used this tutorial and got some of the basics down!

Hi! RichTc
I think FrontPage is good for beginners and it is really good move to dreamweaver to enhance skills and to grow in web development. I think you should visit demodemo.com to learn more about html, css, and many web design related stuffs. You should visit this link too to get acquainted with dreamweaver http://www.macromedia.com/support/dr...ial_index.html

I have been a Dreamweaver Suite user for the past three or four years (starting from scratch with no HTML experience).

I purchased the product and started learning by using the built in Dreamweaver Tutorials - then immediately purchased 'The Complete Reference - HTML' manual which I used extensively to build my HTML Skills (I actually read the manual believe it or not) next I purchased 'The Missing Manual - Dreamweaver MX 2004' (and read that one too).

I also use Fireworks for my photo editing - - Tried Photoshop but found that the product was 'clunky' and really overkill for what I normally do on the Web (not knocking the product - - just much more than I needed). I also use Flash in most of my websites now so the suite purchase price was a good deal for me.

I now feel that my websites are truly professional plus they very easy and quick for me to build. You won't find a bigger fan of Macromedia products than me.

One piece of advice if you don't already do it - - I always recommend that new users 'find a question that you want answered - 'How do I??' then make a trip to Barnes and Nobel or Borders and get a cup of coffee - - take four or five technical manuals off the shelf and spend an hour drinking coffee and reading the manuals - - you'll invariably find one of the four that answers your question and (if you're like me) answers six more that you weren't smart enough to ask before you started reading - - That's the book you want to buy - - put the others back on the self.
