Not being big into website programming right now, I am looking to purchase some ready-made scripts for use on my website. Three of them looked really cool. Please let me know if you think they are good buys or if there are better scripts out there to use.
1. UBB.threads - The reason I would select UBB.threads over UBB.classic, vBulletin, UltraBoard, Invision Board, phpBB, YaBB, YaBB SE, etc. etc. is that it allows for threaded (non-linear) discussions, where replies are made to individual posts rather than to whole threads. I have participated in forums with both and found that the threaded discussion format has provided a better solution for individuals seeking answers, rather than just loose discussion. http://www.infopop.com
2. PHP Live! Support - The reason I would select PHP Live! Support over HumanClick or LivePerson is because it is the only script available for download. The other services depend on a 3rd party server and (in most cases) they must continually be paid. I am looking for solutions that would work independently on my server and also allow me to close my wallet without interrupting service. http://www.phplivesupport.com
3. In-Link - This is the coolest script I have ever seen! I have always been interested in creating a Yahoo!-style website directory. While I have no intention of trying to become the next Open Directory Project I certainly would like to be able to put together a directory of sites pertaining to my site content. I also like all of the features available, such as user ratings and reviews. Displays for "most popular" and (of course) "editor's picks" top it off quite nicely. http://www.in-link.net
