I just downloaded the trial version of Dreamweaver 8 and it rocks! The tutorial on there is awsome. I am a pretty new web-designer (roughly one year) and Dreamweaver 8 is outstanding. I can't believe the difference!

If you are using Frontpage go download a trial version of Dreamweaver today. Immediately go to the HELP section and run the tutorial. It is excellent!

I have been looking for a great way to us CSS and create a basic database driven website on my own and now I can.

Ok, here is an example site I build using the instructions and files that came with Dreamweaver 8:

http://www.usfkforums.com/cafe_townsend/index.html

I built it in about 30 minutes. All of the text is formatted with CSS.

Sorry if I am boring you experts! I am trying to help those new webmasters that are just learning about CSS and developing websites. I will post as I run through the modules. I am knocking out 3-4 modules a day.

Today I learned how to upload the site through Dreamweaver 8. It has a FTP function that is VERY user friendly. Currently, I am using Smart FTP. The FTP on Dreamweaver makes things much easier!

And no, I don't own stock in Macromedia or work for the company!

Yes, dreamweaver is pretty cool, but it has some quirks you have to watch out for.
It sometimes add's lines to PHP files, not good. I genrally use a text editor for PHP, instead of DW.
Also, code sometimes gets "stuck" and you have to go in to code view and delete the offending code.
Still, it is the best app I know of for web design on Mac.

Nice try. You've got a couple of burps on the LO in Firefox. Get in the habit of testing your design in FF FIRST, then fix for that OTHER browser.

Now, dump the tables and learn to use CSS all the way
If you're going to do this web design thing, learn the current technology - and that ain't tables.

DW is very powerful indeed, great tool. I'm glad you decided to kick FP to the curb - horrid thing that it is.

When you've churned thru the DW tuts, head over to Sitepoint.com and pick up a copy of "HTML Utopia: Designing Without Tables Using CSS" 2nd edition is out. It's an excellent book for newbies to the world of table-less layouts.
