I am looking to make a forum page and I was planning to try it in FrontPage but I wanted to know if this was such a good idea or not.

If you're looking for a forum you're probably better off downloading and installing an open source forum. It can take a lot of programming to write one from scratch.

phpBB http://www.phpbb.com is a very popular open source forum

i would only try and create your own forum if you know what you are doing, because if you dont it is a bad idea.

I am recommending it as a possible solution to this query. Also I do believe in my message board service to be a good one. I don't want this reply to seem like a pitch... but Conforums is a great message board solution.

I recommend PHPBB too to start with. However I believe vBulletin is a better option to switch to once things start up

well if you have the time to create your own forum from scratch, go for it. But i think you would be better of by downloading something like phpbb as people are farmiliar with the kind of software.

lol, dont dis self coders.

i coded my own forum from scratch, i just borrowed the layout style from phpBB.

i recommend phpBB, in fact i actually use it and although it has one or two bugs (my phpBB software IS 2 releases old...) which have been fixed and aren't that much of a bother to it working...it is good for forums

i believe that the most recent update is version 2.0.19.

i test software and website software all of the time, and phpBB would be perfect for you. on top of that, it's seriously easy to install.

it's best to use mySQL as a database even though it accepts MS Access databases through ODBC.
