Adding pages not using themes shared borders?

I am currently trying to redo my website and bought a template to use. It uses shared borders which is great. The page is astronomy related and when I want to actually post an image to be viewed at different resolution (800x600) and full res, I want the image shown with a black background without the shared borders being used. I hope this is clear. Any suggestions on how to do this. I've uploaded the basic structure but have not finished this project. As an example, if you use the DHTML menu to get to Galaxies, you get the choice of the Galaxy page with descriptions of the types of galaxies or you can choose from Messier, IC and NGC Galaxies. This opens a page with the choosen galaxy type with 8 thumbnail images that have the identifer beneath it. The thumbnail will be hyperlinked to a page that will give the details of the galaxy, information on how the image was acquired etc.. There will also be a small image of the object that will have two hyperlinks below to see the image in various resolutions. This is where I want to display the image on a black background and not have the shared borders. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve
