Database driven image show - How?

Hi, I think this is in the right place, if not please move it. I'm a photographer and have just done my first site displaying my photo stories. What i have is a lot of stand alone images that at the moment are on a single scrollable page. What I would like to do is have a page with navigation buttons on so a user can navigate between images, which are of different sizes, or come out of the page all together back to the main menu. I thought a database system would work in that, as I understand it, I could have the url's of each image in the database table, and the navigation buttons would efectively travel through the database record. This would also make it easier to change the selection of images for display. Trouble is I have no idea where to start! i did my site in Dreamweaver and I'm pretty handy with relational databases and programming in VB (not VBScript!). Can anyone point me in the direction of either a free add-in, tutorial or someother resource?

Cheers, Lol
